Screen Shot 2015-02-06 at 10.50.07 AMWe had a pretty good time in the studio yesterday. Having access to a studio (ok, I call it a studio, but it’s really a makeshift one in the dining room) is that we can really do anything we want. We’ve recorded a bunch of demos there that are being worked on for our upcoming EP, but in the interim, we thought it’d be fun to do a bunch of covers. This not only keeps us making music, but it also helps point us in a general direction of how we want to sound.

“Beach Baby,” by Bon Iver is a mellow, MELLOW song that we set out to cover. One thing we wanted to keep was the fundamental spirit of the song, so the strumming guitar pattern was left intact. Aside from the guitar, a Rhodes was added… and then finally a synthesized violin part that seemed to flow well with the end chord progression.  by Bon Iver is a mellow, MELLOW song that we set out to cover. The vocals were done in 2 takes. Very cool.

We were quite pleased with the results. Take a listen!

Yup. We did that.

Our plan is to record one cover a week. Good times, indeed. We’ve got some exciting things coming up in the next few weeks, so be sure to stay updated with us here or on our Facebook page!
